The “River Watch” is a volunteer organization that aims to protect China’s rivers. We perform on-site investigation, observing local conditions in order to gain a better understanding of the plights of each river.
The “River Watch” functions as both an ecological tour and a river investigation. We meet every Saturday we journey to Beijing’s rivers and watersheds. We record the conditions of the river not only as a means to achieve a better understanding, but for aesthetic reasons as well. Our concern for Beijing’s natural resources stems from a genuine love of nature as well as a pragmatic realization that such resources are necessary for Beijing to thrive.
We are inviting all scholars and researchers related to the field of hydrology to accompany us. Field experience is not necessary however, and any volunteer is welcome to join. Our organization fosters grassroots public participation, and we encourage you to spread the word about us.
