Air pollutants analyzed in north China amid battle against smog. Tianjin is the second city to release the analysis of its fine particular matter. Heinz cereal products sealed for excessive lead in Zhejiang. Food safety authorities in east China's Zhejiang province said they have sealed 614 boxes of baby cereal products made by US food giant HJ Heinz after they were found to contain excessive levels of lead. Xinhua News Agency, China. 19 August 2014.

PetroChina unit shuts 2 liquid gas plants. China’s biggest energy firm PetroChina is reviewing its multi-billion-dollar push to produce liquefied natural gas to fuel trucks and ships in place of diesel, shutting two loss-making gas liquefaction plants, sources said. Shanghai Daily, China. 19 August 2014.

Hong Kong should catch up with the global push for renewable energy. While efficiency should be a prerequisite for responsible energy management in Hong Kong, the city needs a more proactive approach on the supply side, too.
