Higher mercury levels found in yellowfin tuna -  March 26, 2015 (Shanghai Daily) Mercury levels are rising in Hawaiian yellowfin tuna, often marketed as ahi, at a rate of nearly 4 percent a year as the oceans absorb the pollutant from the air, researchers said.

 

Greenbelt relief - March 24, 2015 (Shanghai Daily) A central greenbelt will be built in Zhuanqiao Town this year. Located in the southern part of the town, the greenery area will span four villages and cover more than 200 hectares. Town officials said the villages have long suffered from a shabby environment and the greenbelt will alleviate the dreariness.

NGO uses new environment law to sue glassmaker over pollution - March 26, 2015 (Shanghai Daily) An environmental organization has filed a lawsuit against a glass manufacturer in east China’s Shandong Province, which it claims is a major polluter, the Dezhou Intermediate People’s Court, said yesterday.

 

Environment tax law on fast track - BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhua) The State Council, China's cabinet, said on Wednesday that it would review the draft environment tax law "as quickly as possible".

 

China's environment watchdog to exit from evaluation services - BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhua) The Ministry of Environmental Protection has called for its affiliated organizations to cease commercial environmental evaluation services by the end of 2016.

Saved for the nation - March 24, 2015 (Shanghai Daily) Two guards stop under an ancient tree in a state-owned forest in east China’s Jiangxi Province. Only a few ancient trees are left in the Huichang Xiangjiang Natural Protection Reserve due to excessive logging since the 1980s.
