Coca-Cola opens new environmentally friendly plant in Yunnan

The plant, with photovoltaic power generators located on the roof of the main building, can generate an estimated 5 million kWh annually. To reduce summer heat and save energy, the plant uses natural lighting, intelligent lighting systems, two-way heat-protective glass and highly reflective materials that cover 75 percent of the roof.

More incentives for imports to meet high consumption demand

Trade in emerging services will be boosted, and imports of producer services covering research and design, trade logistics, consulting services, energy conservation and environmental protection will be encouraged.

Full electric vehicles added to city's taxi fleet

Taxi firm Qiangsheng will put 400 new vehicles into operation from September to serve the potential tourists flow during the China International Import Expo. 100 of the 400 new taxis are full electric vehicles as an attempt to appeal to a more environmental friendly way of operation. This is the first time for the city to put full electric vehicles into taxi business.

China invents nano printing technology, with less pollution

Chinese researchers are celebrating a breakthrough in the printing industry that can reduce printing pollution with nano material. It will reduce millions of tons of liquid pollution and emissions of organic chemicals and is expected to lead a green revolution in the printing industry. "It will make China's printing industry simpler, greener, and cheaper, with international competitiveness," said Song Yanlin, lead researcher.

China goes cray-cray for crayfish

Crayfish shells were once dumped as useless trash. However, through cooperation with labs in universities, the company now turns the shells into precious resources. Every year, about 100,000 tonnes of shells are used by Huashan to produce chitosan, a chemical substance that has commercial and biomedical uses.

Intelligent garbage sorting machines make being green easier

Unlike traditional garbage sorting spots in residential communities, the machines do not require volunteers to be on site assisting in point redemption of green accounts, making the new system much more efficient. People can acquire points in real time for dumping garbage into the correct bins. Both virtual and real green account cards are supported, and residents can exchange the points for items like washing powder, detergent and soap.

13 held over importing 'foreign garbage'

Shanghai Customs has detained 13 people accused of smuggling almost 30,000 tons of illegal plastic waste from overseas, as part of a national crackdown on “foreign garbage.” The crackdown which Shanghai Customs has taken against illegal imports of solid waste is part of the nationwide Blue Sky 2018 campaign.
